(I was chickening out from publishing this, but then now I’m like “screw that, it’s my blog” LOL. :D)
It really pisses me off when people call me, and other people, an “anti-fan” just because I point out a flaw in DBSK, or any of my favorite groups. That I’m “trying to bring them down” for calling out their mistakes. Why, are they perfect? They’re people too. They have insecurities, they go through a truckload of crap, and they make mistakes too.
He made a mistake. I’m not justifying his actions or saying that he’s excused, because he’s not. What he did was wrong, and inexcusable.
He hurt someone. He hurt a fan. He hurt someone who, regardless of gender or race or social standing or whatever else people think should be special cases, bought his albums, watched his concerts, and supported his career.
Let’s put it this way. There are a lot of people in my life, a lot of people I’ve met, and even friends, who I feel like slapping, for various reasons — they piss me off, they’re disrespectful, etc. — but do I hurt them? No.
Bottom line is, that should never have happened. And as in all other cases of violence, everyone wishes that it never happened. But it did.
What really drives me over the edge is when everyone jumps to defend Yoochun just because they think he’s perfect and can do no wrong. News flash, people, he’s human too just like everyone else.
Yoochun is no longer a child, far from it, and even if he was, you are not his parents. So he himself has to step up and suffer the consequences of his actions. Stop trying to make up excuses for something he did.
Does me pointing out that Yoochun was wrong, that he did something inexcusable, make me any less of a fan? No. Yoochun is talented, and I will not deny him that. But like I’ve been saying for majority of this post, he is a person too, and he’s not exempt from screwing things up.
Before any of you jump to conclusions about what I just said, let me spell things in black and white for everyone. (And let this serve as a short version.)
1. Idols are not perfect. They screw up. They make mistakes.
2. Idols are not children. They don’t need to be “protected” or “shielded” whenever they do wrong, and they should suffer the repercussions of their actions.
3. Yoochun slapped/hurt a fan a few years ago.
4. What Yoochun did was wrong, and inexcusable.
5. Yoochun is talented. I am a fan for the talent.
6. BUT, pointing out #4 doesn’t make me any less of a fan of DB5K, it just means that I think Chun should be punished for his actions. See: #5
